Independent reviews have many positive things to say about both the 2017 Renegade and its Subaru Crosstrek competitor. However, Jeep has, arguably, done a better job of checking off more boxes for customers and their varying needs. Available base trims come standard with front-wheel drive and handle very much like a well-composed sedan. Similar observations have been made about the Crosstrek. When the going gets tough, it’s the impressive Jeep Renegade Trailhawk that leaves the Crosstrek in the dust. Trailhawk model have a true four-wheel drive drivetrain as well as a raised suspension, more suited for rough terrain including recovery tow hooks and has a skid plate.

2017 Renegade vs. 2017 Crosstrek: Performance Specs
There are a pair of engine options available for the 2017 Jeep Renegade at Billion Auto Group. Both of which can outperform what is available from the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. Entry-level versions of the 2017 Renegade come with a turbocharged, 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine making 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. By comparison, lower trims of the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek use a larger, but less powerful, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with a top output of 148 horsepower. This is the only engine offered for the Subaru Crosstrek.
For extra performance, Renegade buyers can also choose a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine making 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.
