2020 Ram 1500 adds another ‘Best of’ award to its trophy case

The last two years have been more than a bit of a whirlwind for the Ram 1500. Not only has the full-size truck been named as the MotorTrend Truck of the year for 2019 and 2020, but it has also added another award to its trophy case. Edmunds.com has named the 2020 Ram 1500 as its Top Rated Truck for 2020. The automotive expert website specializes in delivering the objective and accurate information about just about every aspect of buying, maintaining and selling vehicles. What did they like about the truck?
“The Ram 1500 just keeps getting better and is once again our Top Rated Truck for 2020,” Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief of Edmunds said in a press release. “We still love its technology, interior build quality, ride comfort and capability.”
In order for a vehicle to be named to the website’s prestigious list, it must meet the experts’ criteria in seven separate categories and generally be an example of automotive industry excellence. While the 2020 Ram 1500 isn’t drastically different from the 2019 model, there was one area of the latest version that stood out to the team from Edmunds.
“The new EcoDiesel variant introduced this year delivers even stronger fuel economy, more torque and improved towing capability,” Weaver said. “The Ram 1500 easily remains the most desirable pickup truck on the market.”
Ram introduced the third-generation version of the turbocharged 3.0-liter, EcoDiesel V-6 for the 2020 version of the truck. Its best-in-class torque output of 480 pound-feet is a 14 percent increase over the last diesel engine the automaker used. Additionally, the powertrain’s native fuel economy scores, combined with a large 33-gallon fuel tank will allow owners to travel as much as 1,000 miles on a tank of diesel fuel.
