What does the 2022 Frontier have under the hood?
When the 2022 Nissan Frontier goes on sale this summer, every trim grade and body style will use the same powertrain. Owners will be able to do a lot with the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter, V-6 engine that is under the hood and attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission. It will make a best-in-class 310 horsepower as well as 281 pound-feet of torque.
Nissan will release the new truck’s official fuel economy scores from the Environmental Protection Agency closer to its official launch date later this year.
We don’t have access to the whole towing capacity chart for the 2022 Frontier just yet. However, we do know that two-wheel-drive S and SV trim grades will be able to tow up to 6,720 pounds. This is not only one of the highest towing capacities in the midsize pickup truck class, but it is also higher than what several 2021 versions of the Frontier could tow. Additionally, a tow hitch with a wiring harness is optional on the SV, PRO-X and PRO-4X trims.
Since Nissan built the 2022 Frontier to work as hard as it plays, some models will feature two 120-volt outlets with 400-watt capacity, one will be in the backseat and the other will be located in the cargo bed. This should be more than enough to run some power tools for a while.
