Nissan GT-R VS Drone
By Product Expert | Posted in Uncategorized on Friday, January 20th, 2017 at 11:02 pmHow Are Race Cars Filmed Around A Track?
With the return of the GT-R, Nissan is once again a leader in the motorsport industry, posting competitive Nürburgring lap times and impressing all the right people with handling and acceleration. The car keeps getting faster, but for the most part, the drones that are used to chase it around a track are the same they were five years ago. When a car like the Nissan GT-R can accelerate to 60 miles per hour from a stand still in just 2.9 seconds, it is almost impossible to keep up with from low altitudes…until now.
Nissan GT-R Drone
Drones have been used to film cars since the first drone flew off the line some 10 years ago. Since then, cars have consistently become lighter, stronger, and in turn, faster. For this reason, Nissan spent quite a bit of money researching and experimenting with drones until it came up with the GT-R Drone. Built specifically for the GT-R, the drone can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 1.3 seconds. This is faster than any car on the market, including Porsche, Koenigsegg, and even Hennessey!
Top Speed
Somewhat disappointingly, the Nissan GT-R drone only has a top speed of 115 miles per hour. Of course, this is extremely fast, especially for a 1.5-pound piece of plastic, but if you’re like us, well, we’re not sure what we were expecting.
