The reputation the Jeep brand has built in the automotive industry is nothing short of amazing. The automaker’s range of vehicles covers a wide spectrum of options from the rough-and-ready Wrangler to one of the most respected and capable crossover SUVs in the Grand Cherokee. There is one former model, the Commanche light pickup truck, that really stands out. The manufacturer has been teasing a possible return of the unique model – with an updated name. So, is Jeep making a Wrangler pickup truck? A recent article posted on the Road & Track website seems to add more fuel to the speculation fire. The best information available says that if the automaker follows through with these teasers, it will be available about this time next year.

When can we officially see the Wrangler pickup truck?
According to the Road & Track article, which we’ve linked to in this blog through the embedded tweet, The 2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup truck will likely be delivered to dealerships like Billion Auto Group next April (2019). That means the manufacturer will probably start production at the end of 2018. As for an official first look, we’ll probably have to wait for the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show which starts at the end of November. You can bet that we’ll bring you the latest information about the new vehicle’s release date and its specifications.
Jeep first started the process of dipping their toes in the water of the pickup truck segment back in September 2015. The Road & Track piece alludes to the idea that some of what we’ve seen with the release of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler could hold clues to what the Wrangler pickup truck may offer. Buyers considering the Wrangler pickup when it arrives at Billion Auto Group will probably have a 3.6-liter, V-6 engine making 285 horsepower. It will either be attached to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. There is a better than average chance that Jeep’s diesel engine could also be an option.

What will it be called?
FCA, the parent company of Jeep, appears to have picked a name for the Wrangler pickup truck variant. When it arrives, the evidence seems to be there to suggest the automaker will call this new platform the Jeep Scrambler. But this could still change. A pricing structure has yet to be announced.
